Monday, May 7 is the day Souths again go in search of justice. But what is justice? The dictionary defines it as the quality of being just; actuated by truth and lack of bias; based on what is right.

Rugby League has taken a battering in recent weeks. Two players from another troubled Sydney team, Wests Tigers, were suspended and heavily fined for taking recreational drugs. Craig Field and Kevin McGuinness will now miss the rest of the season.
For a sport that has prided itself on its family-friendly image it was a fierce blow.

South Sydney has convinced former Test prop Mark Carroll to make a one-off return for the Rabbitohs' country tour match in Wagga Wagga. Carroll, a former star of the Rabbitohs, was forced to retire from the game because of a chronic toe injury at the end of the 1999 season, the same time the Rabbitohs were kicked out of the National Rugby League competition. "It's been a long off-season but I have definitely got another game in me," said Carroll, who finished his 10-year first grade career with South Sydney. "I can't wait to run out for the Rabbitohs again."

I LOVED your roast of that wart on rugby league John Ribot. I would love to have seen the plethora of dastardly deeds this man has done to league. I am a third-generation Rabbitoh supporter, with a fourth-generation son who wants his team back. Like Neil Whittaker, Ribot should be remembered as the man who destroyed the game. Up the Rabbitohs!

Sorensen has upset fellow directors by claiming the long-term future of the Sharks in the NRL may be in jeopardy in his policy statement. "I make no apologies for that because there is no doubt in my mind that this club could go under if we are not careful," he said. "I believe league officials still think there are too many Sydney clubs in the competition and that two more clubs will eventually go.

Australian rugby league attracts scant interest in many parts of the globe but media worldwide carried the story of Hopoate being suspended for "interfering" with three opponents by sticking his fingers up their backsides during a match. Though some in Australia laughed at Hopoate's behavior, rugby officials saw nothing funny and banned the Wests Tigers winger for 12 weeks.

Former Queensland star Billy Moore played his first match in three months last night as South Sydney continued their country roadshow with a 52-18 win over the Dubbo-Macquarie Raiders in Dubbo. "It was tough going," Moore said. "[But] if it makes a few dollars for Souths then it's good." http://www.leaguehq.com.au/league/news/200104/08/league12.html
