It has been a big learning curve for the Rabbitohs as they re-enter the premiership. Have been thumped in many games but at least have signed some good talent for 2003. Adam Muir retires but Chris Walker, Ashley Harrison and Bryan Fletcher will hopefully lift the side into contention.
Player of the Year: Paul Stringer
Probably deserved higher recognition and has been solid for the Rabbitohs all season. Has continued to give them go forward and is a tireless worker.
Rookie of the Year: Joven Clark
The young winger or fullback looks set for a big future. He only played a handful of games but did enough to impress. Scott McLean, Wade McKinnon and Brett Sheehan all impressed as well and it is vital that the Rabbitohs continue to develop these youngsters.
(NZoom - 4 Sept 2002)
ROOKIE Michael Byrne will make his debut on the wing against North Queensland in the Rabbitohs' final match for 2002. Byrne is the son of former Souths star John Byrne.
